Overview
The Xiaobi USB-C hub, listed on Amazon Japan as Xiaobi USB Cハブ 7ポート複数のUSB 3.0ハブ USB-A 4個 & USB-C3個ノートパソコン用 USBCスプリッター Type Cポートノートパソコン PC デスクトップなどに (4フィート), turns one USB-C port on your computer into seven ports: four USB-A and three USB-C.
It is a USB 3.0 hub with transfer speeds of up to 5Gbps.
The body is aluminum alloy, and a 4-foot (about 1.2m) cable is attached.
In short, it is good for connecting everyday peripherals such as mice, keyboards, flash drives and webcams. It is not built for video output, charging a laptop, or running several external SSDs at full speed at the same time.
This article focuses on things the product page does not make clear: the 5Gbps limit is shared by all ports, the 5V port on the back is for power only, and the 1.2m cable has practical consequences.
Note that this site files the product under desktop PCs, but it is a peripheral (a USB hub), not a computer.
Compatibility Guide
You need a USB-C port on your computer that supports data. According to the product page, the hub works with macOS, Windows, ChromeOS and Linux and needs no driver.
USB hubs normally run on the operating system's built-in driver, so OS compatibility problems are rare.
The USB-C port on your computer sets the speed limit for the whole hub. Some computers have ports that look like USB-C but only run at USB 2.0 (480Mbps), or are for charging only.
On a USB 2.0 port the hub will not reach USB 3.0 speeds, and on a charge-only port it will not be detected at all.
Thunderbolt 3/4 and USB4 ports normally work fine with USB 3.0 devices.
| What to check | Where to look | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Does the PC's USB-C port carry data? | Manual or the maker's port list | Plugging into a charge-only port; hub is not detected |
| How fast is the PC's USB-C port? | USB 3.x / Thunderbolt / USB4 labels | USB 2.0-class port; transfers are slow |
| Will you plug in power-hungry devices? | 2.5-inch HDDs and similar devices | Not enough power; the external HDD disconnects |
| Does your desktop have USB-C at all? | Case front panel and motherboard rear I/O | No USB-C; you need a separate adapter |
If you are using a desktop PC, first check that it has a USB-C port. Recent motherboards and prebuilt PCs often have one on the back or the front of the case, but models from a few years ago may only have USB-A.
The listing says basic USB devices work with PS4 and Xbox. However, those consoles mainly have USB-A ports, so you would need an adapter to connect this USB-C hub, and it is safer to assume it may not work.
How It Works in Practice
Up to 5Gbps does not mean each of the seven ports gets 5Gbps. All connected devices share the bandwidth of the single cable between the hub and the computer.
Mice and keyboards use almost none of it, so you can connect many of them without problems. But if you copy files to two external SSDs at the same time, each one will be noticeably slower.
The 5Gbps rating for USB 3.0 (USB 3.2 Gen 1) is a theoretical maximum, and real transfer speeds are usually lower.
Many fast NVMe SSD enclosures can reach 10Gbps or more, so this hub cannot use their full speed. If you move large files often, plug your fast SSD directly into the computer and use the hub for input devices and slower devices.
| Use | Fit with this hub | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Mouse, keyboard, gamepad | Good | Uses almost no bandwidth |
| Flash drive, SD card reader | Good | Devices share speed when used together |
| Webcam, USB microphone | Mostly good | Watch bandwidth when several run at once |
| Fast external SSD | Poor | Connect directly to the PC instead |
| 2.5-inch HDD | Conditional | Add power through the 5V port if needed |
| Monitor output | Not possible | No video port or video output listed |
The 1.2m cable is more useful on a desk than in a bag.
With a tower PC on the floor, you can run the hub from the rear USB-C port up to your desk and plug flash drives and card readers in and out within reach. If you carry it with a laptop, the long cable may just get in the way.
Product Info
As of October 2026, the price on Amazon.co.jp was ¥12,394.
Prices change with sales and stock, so check the product page for the current price before buying. At the same time, the rating was 4.8 out of 5 stars (96% positive).
There were only 28 reviews, though, which is not enough to judge long-term durability.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Ports | 7 (4 USB-A + 3 USB-C) |
| USB standard | USB 3.0 |
| Data transfer rate | Up to 5Gbps |
| Cable length | 4 ft (about 1.2m) |
| Material | Aluminum alloy |
For a seven-port USB 3.0 hub at 5Gbps, this price is not cheap.
Hubs with the same specification can be found for less. Decide based on whether the mix of USB-C and USB-A ports, the aluminum body and the 1.2m cable are worth it to you.
The product page says the USB-C port marked 5V on the back is for power input only and cannot be used for data or for charging devices. We could not confirm whether a power adapter is included, so if you think you will need extra power, check that a USB-C charger you already own will work.
Who It's For
- People whose laptop only has USB-C ports but who still use USB-A devices: With four USB-A ports, you can plug in your existing mouse and flash drives without adapters.
- People with a tower PC on the floor who want USB ports within reach: The 1.2m cable lets you set up a spot on your desk for plugging devices in and out.
- People with a mix of USB-A and USB-C devices: With three USB-C ports, newer USB-C devices also plug in without adapters.
- People who switch between operating systems: You can use the same hub on macOS, Windows, ChromeOS and Linux.
Before You Buy
Assume it cannot output video or charge your laptop. This hub only adds USB ports.
It has no HDMI or other video port, and the listing does not say its USB-C ports can send video to a monitor. Pass-through charging for a laptop is not listed either, so on a laptop with only one USB-C port, plugging in the hub may leave you unable to charge.
For those needs, choose a docking station with HDMI and USB Power Delivery charging.
5Gbps is the total for all ports. As explained above, using several external SSDs at once, or running a webcam alongside fast storage, can make one of them slow or unstable.
Connect speed-sensitive devices directly to the computer.
The 5V port on the back is for power only. A USB device plugged into it will not be detected.
Use this port to add power when a device, such as a 2.5-inch HDD, cannot get enough from the computer alone.
If an external HDD keeps disconnecting or behaves erratically, suspect a power shortage first. The data we have does not make clear whether this power port is counted in the seven ports.
Check the port layout in the product photos before buying so you are not surprised by having fewer usable ports than you expected.
Decide what you want for this price. At capture time, ¥12,394 was high for a USB 3.0 hub.
The rating is strong, but with only 28 reviews there is little feedback from long-term users. If you just need more ports, compare it with other hubs first.
Read the listing carefully. The listing reads like a translation, for example the cable length given as 4 feet and the comments about game consoles, and some details are hard to follow.
This site also files the product under desktop PCs, but it is actually a USB hub. When you buy, check the photos and product name to make sure it is the item you want.
FAQ
Q. Can I charge my laptop while using it? A.
Pass-through charging is not listed. The 5V port on the back only supplies extra power to the hub.
Plan to charge your laptop through a different port.
Q. Can I connect a monitor? A.
There is no video port and no video output is listed. To connect a monitor, you need a docking station with HDMI or a similar port.
Q. Will external SSDs run at full speed? A.
No. All ports share up to 5Gbps, so fast SSDs cannot reach their full speed.
Connect them directly to the computer.
Q. Does it work on a desktop PC without USB-C? A.
The hub connects over USB-C. A PC with only USB-A ports needs an adapter, and operation in that setup is not guaranteed.
We recommend using it on a computer with a USB-C port.
Q. Do I need to install a driver? A.
According to the product description, no driver is needed. It is detected as soon as you plug it into macOS, Windows, ChromeOS or Linux.
