Overview

The Cooler Master Hyper H412R (model RR-H412-20PK-R2) is a compact CPU air cooler featuring a 92mm fan. It uses a copper base and heat pipes for efficient heat dissipation, with a maximum fan speed of 2000 RPM and an impressively low noise level of just 1 dBA. This entry-to-mid-range cooler is designed for small form factor builds and space-constrained environments.
Compatibility covers Intel LGA 115x/1200/1700 and AMD AM4/AM5 sockets, making it suitable for a wide range of modern platforms. With a height of approximately 136mm, it fits comfortably in most mini-tower cases. The cooler handles CPUs with a TDP of up to 130W, providing adequate cooling for typical gaming and office workloads.
Priced around ¥3,200, it offers excellent value for budget-conscious builders. It's an ideal choice for first-time PC builders or anyone looking to keep costs down without sacrificing reliable cooling.

Compatibility Guide

  • Supported sockets: Intel LGA 115x/1200/1700, AMD AM4/AM5. Not compatible with older sockets like LGA 775 or 2011.
  • Memory clearance: The 92mm fan overhangs the memory slots slightly; tall RAM heatsinks may interfere. Low-profile memory is recommended.
  • Case clearance: Cooler height is about 136mm. Ensure your case supports at least 140mm CPU cooler height.
  • Power connector: Standard 4-pin PWM fan connector for motherboard CPU_FAN header.

Product Info

Released around 2017 and still widely available, the Hyper H412R sits in the entry-level air cooler segment with a price range of ¥3,000–¥4,000. It comes with a 2-year manufacturer warranty. The construction features a copper base and aluminum fins, with a 92mm fan spinning up to 2000 RPM delivering approximately 34 CFM airflow at a noise level of just 1 dBA.
Market positioning: It's a budget-friendly option optimized for small cases, offering a good balance of cooling performance and silence. Compared to similarly priced competitors, it stands out for its compact size and low noise.

Best Use Cases

  • Small form factor PC builders: The low 136mm height fits easily in mini-tower and HTPC cases. Ideal for compact gaming rigs or office PCs.
  • Budget-conscious first-time builders: At around ¥3,200, it's an affordable yet capable cooler for entry-level CPUs like Core i3 or Ryzen 3.
  • Silence-focused users: With a maximum noise rating of 1 dBA, it's virtually inaudible during normal use. Great for quiet home theater PCs or workstations.
  • Office and light productivity: Handles CPUs up to 130W TDP, sufficient for daily tasks and light multitasking without breaking the bank.
Not recommended for overclocking or high-end CPUs (Core i7/i9, Ryzen 7/9) where a larger tower cooler or liquid cooling would be more appropriate.

Things to Consider

  • Double-check socket compatibility, especially for Intel LGA 1851 which is not supported.
  • Memory clearance can be tight with tall RAM modules; consider low-profile memory to avoid interference.
  • Case width: Verify your case's maximum CPU cooler height (at least 140mm recommended).
  • Competitors like Deepcool GAMMAXX 400 or ID-COOLING SE-214-XT offer 120mm fans with higher cooling capacity but are larger and may not fit in compact cases.
  • For CPUs with TDP under 65W, this cooler is more than adequate and runs very quietly.

FAQ

Q: Can this cooler handle a Ryzen 5 5600X?
A: Yes, it supports AM4 and the 5600X's 65W TDP is well within the 130W capacity, so cooling is sufficient.
Q: Is the fan replaceable?
A: Yes, the 92mm fan is attached with standard clips and can be swapped with any 92mm fan, though height clearance may change.
Q: Does it include mounting hardware for LGA 1700?
A: Yes, the package includes LGA 1700 mounting brackets. However, very early production units may require a separate kit; check the included contents before purchase.
