Overview

Turtle Beach is a veteran gaming audio brand founded in 1975, and it has held the No.1 sales share in the US gaming headset market for over 14 consecutive years. The Recon 50 PC Red is a wired headset that works with a wide range of devices, including PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox, handheld consoles, and smartphones. With the model number TBS-6003-02, this unit was released in August 2025.
The standout feature of this product is its ultra-lightweight design at just 210g. Despite being an over-ear type, it remains comfortable during long gaming sessions, and the full-size ear cushions that envelop the ears provide a pleasant fit. It also comes equipped with high-quality 40mm neodymium drivers, delivering well-balanced sound from highs to powerful lows. Game audio such as environmental sounds, footsteps, and effects are reproduced clearly, offering an immersive sound experience.
Positioned in the entry-level price tier, this is an accessible choice for those buying their first gaming headset. The cable features inline controls, allowing quick volume adjustments and microphone muting without interrupting gameplay. The microphone is also detachable, making it convenient to remove when watching movies or listening to music.

Compatibility Guide

The Recon 50 PC Red is a wired headset with a 3.5mm audio jack, compatible with PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox, handheld consoles, and smartphones. The included splitter allows direct connection to PCs with separate headphone and microphone jacks.
Designed with gamepads in mind, it can be connected directly to controllers. The main advantage is that any device with a 3.5mm jack can be used, so those who own multiple consoles can share a single headset across all of them.
Note that wireless connectivity is not supported, so those seeking a fully wireless setup should consider other options. Additionally, devices with only USB-C connectivity may require a separate adapter.

Product Info

The Recon 50 PC Red was released on August 22, 2025, as Turtle Beach's entry-level wired gaming headset. The model number is TBS-6003-02, with dimensions of 7.32 inches in length, 6.06 inches in width, and 3.22 inches in height, weighing 0.46 pounds (approximately 210g).
In terms of market positioning, this falls into the entry-level category. It offers well-balanced sound from 40mm neodymium drivers and a comfortable ultra-lightweight body at an affordable price. Given Turtle Beach's brand reliability and track record, this represents a strong cost-performance choice.

Best Use Cases

  • Gamers who switch between multiple consoles and a PC. With 3.5mm connectivity across a wide range of devices, one headset covers all environments. Not suitable for those who insist on wireless.
  • Players who engage in long gaming sessions. The 210g ultra-lightweight design and comfortable over-ear fit reduce fatigue. Especially recommended for those who find heavy headsets uncomfortable on the head or neck.
  • Frequent voice chat users. The detachable high-sensitivity microphone enables clear communication, and it can be removed when not needed for music listening. Convenient even for those who rarely use a mic.

Things to Consider

This product supports wired connection only, so it is not suitable for those seeking a fully wireless experience. Devices without a 3.5mm jack, such as USB-C-only smartphones, may require a separate conversion adapter.
As an entry-level product, there may be noticeable differences in sound quality and noise cancellation compared to higher-end models. Competitors offer wireless connectivity or surround sound support, but at a higher price point.
While multi-platform support is a key strength, console-specific features like chat mixers are not included. This is ideal for those who prefer simple functionality, but advanced users seeking sophisticated audio settings may find it lacking.
