Overview

The OWC Thunderbolt 5 Dock is a high-performance expansion dock that leverages the latest Thunderbolt 5 technology. With a single cable, you gain access to 11 ports, dramatically expanding the connectivity of your laptop or desktop. It supports up to 140W Power Delivery, allowing you to charge your host device while using all ports.

Key Features

  • Thunderbolt 5 support with up to 80Gbps bandwidth (120Gbps in Boost mode)
  • 11 ports: 2x Thunderbolt 5 downstream, 2x USB-C, 3x USB-A, 1x HDMI 2.1, 1x 10GbE, 1x SD card slot, 1x 3.5mm audio
  • Up to 140W Power Delivery (96W to host)
  • Aluminum chassis for excellent heat dissipation, fanless operation
  • Backward compatible with Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 3, USB4, and USB-C devices

Compatibility Guide

  • Requires a Thunderbolt 5 or Thunderbolt 4 port on the host. USB4 ports work but with limited bandwidth.
  • Supports both macOS and Windows. Some features (e.g., DisplayPort Alt Mode) depend on OS and hardware.
  • HDMI 2.1 port supports up to 8K60Hz or 4K120Hz output, depending on host GPU capabilities.
  • The 10GbE port is ideal for wired networking with NAS or high-speed internet.

Ideal Use Cases

  • Users with Thunderbolt 5-enabled MacBook Pro or Windows laptops
  • Those needing multiple monitors, fast storage, and wired LAN simultaneously
  • Creative professionals and power users requiring high-bandwidth data transfers and multi-display setups

Upgrade Considerations

  • To fully utilize Thunderbolt 5 bandwidth, you need a compatible cable and host device. Older Thunderbolt 4 devices will be limited.
  • The dock is fanless but may become warm under heavy load. Place it in a well-ventilated area.
  • The included Thunderbolt 5 cable is 0.8m. For longer runs, purchase a separate cable.
