This article covers Microsoft Surface Ethernetアダプター3.0。.

The Microsoft Surface Ethernet Adapter 3.0 is a dedicated wired LAN adapter designed specifically for Surface devices.

Compact and lightweight, the adapter features a simple black design that blends well with Surface devices. It works with most Surface models that have a USB-A port, including the Surface Pro, Surface Laptop, and Surface Book series.

Note that newer Surface models with only USB-C ports (such as the Surface Pro X) will require a separate USB-C to USB-A adapter for compatibility. As a Microsoft-branded accessory, this adapter offers high reliability and guaranteed compatibility with Surface devices.

It sits in the mid-range market tier — more expensive than third-party alternatives, but the peace of mind from official compatibility testing justifies the premium for many users. The package includes only the adapter itself; no driver disc or additional cables are included.

Surface users who need wired networking: Ideal for conference rooms, hotels, or home offices where Wi-Fi signals are weak or unreliable. Users who transfer large files frequently: Gigabit speeds provide faster and more stable data transfers than most wireless connections.

  • Security-conscious corporate users: Avoid public Wi-Fi risks by using a wired connection for sensitive work. This adapter is less suitable for users with USB-C-only Surface models or those who prioritize minimal cable clutter.

This adapter uses a USB-A connector, so it cannot be used directly with USB-C-only Surface models. While third-party alternatives are cheaper, the official Microsoft adapter offers guaranteed compatibility and build quality that may be worth the extra cost for Surface owners.

Q: Do I need to install drivers? A: No, Windows 10/11 recognizes the adapter automatically with built-in drivers.

It may work with other Windows PCs, but compatibility is only officially guaranteed for Surface devices. Q: Does it work with Mac or Chromebook?

A: This is officially a Surface accessory. Compatibility with Mac or Chromebook is not guaranteed.
