Overview

The AVerMedia Live Gamer Ultra 2.1 (GC553G2) is an external USB capture device that supports 4K60 HDR passthrough and recording. With HDMI 2.1 input and USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C connectivity, it delivers low-latency, high-quality video capture for game streaming and content creation. It works seamlessly with PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

Key Features

  • 4K60 HDR passthrough and recording — Capture stunning visuals without compromise.
  • 1080p240 capture — Perfect for high-refresh-rate gaming and slow-motion analysis.
  • USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C interface — Provides ample bandwidth for stable 4K60 HDR transfer.
  • Included RECentral software — Easy setup and streaming for beginners.
  • Bus-powered — No external power adapter required, just one USB cable.

Compatibility & Connection Guide

  • Supported OS: Windows 10/11, macOS 11+ (some limitations on macOS).
  • Recommended port: USB 3.2 Gen 2 (Type-C) or higher. USB 3.0 works but may not handle 4K60 HDR reliably.
  • Console connection: Connect via HDMI from console to capture device, then USB to PC. Note that HDCP-protected content cannot be captured.
  • Streaming software: Works with OBS Studio, Streamlabs Desktop, XSplit, and others.

Ideal Use Cases

  • Aspiring streamers — Quick setup and high-quality output make it easy to go live.
  • Multi-platform gamers — Switch between PC and consoles without reconfiguring.
  • Quality-focused creators — Preserve 4K HDR detail for professional-looking content.

Important Notes

  • 4K60 HDR recording requires a capable PC (modern CPU/GPU) and fast storage (NVMe SSD recommended).
  • Without a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port, 4K60 HDR recording may be unstable.
  • The included USB cable is about 80 cm long; you may need an extension depending on your setup.
