Overview

The Fractal Design North Mesh Black is a mid-tower PC case that brings a touch of Scandinavian design to your build. Its front panel combines a fine mesh with real walnut wood slats, giving a warm, natural look that stands out from typical gaming cases. Inside, it offers generous space for high-end components while maintaining excellent airflow and quiet operation.

Key Features

  • Wood-accented front panel: Real walnut slats integrated into the mesh for a unique aesthetic
  • Excellent cooling support: Front 3x120mm/2x140mm, top 2x140mm, rear 1x120mm fan mounts
  • GPU clearance up to 355mm: Fits even the largest modern graphics cards
  • CPU cooler clearance up to 175mm: Compatible with high-end air coolers
  • Cable management: 30mm of space behind the motherboard tray for tidy routing

Compatibility Guide

  • Motherboard: ATX, Micro-ATX, Mini-ITX. E-ATX not supported (max 272mm width)
  • PSU: ATX PS/2, up to 220mm length. Adequate cable management space
  • Storage: 2x 3.5-inch bays, 2x 2.5-inch bays (one behind motherboard)
  • Cooling: Front 360mm radiator, top 280mm radiator. Top radiator may conflict with tall RAM
  • Note: Front USB Type-C requires motherboard internal header (USB 3.2 Gen 2)

Ideal Builds

  • Desk-top PC: The wood panel blends with home decor, perfect for a showpiece build
  • High-end gaming: Fits RTX 4080/4090 with room to spare and good airflow
  • Quiet-focused builds: Mesh panel still includes sound-dampening material; built-in fan hub
  • Beginners to enthusiasts: Easy assembly and excellent cable management

Upgrade Considerations

  • GPU length of 355mm is generous, but installing a front radiator reduces available space. With a 360mm radiator + fans (approx. 50mm), aim for GPU under 305mm
  • Top 280mm radiator may interfere with RAM taller than 40mm. Low-profile memory recommended
  • PSU up to 220mm, but 200mm or less is safer for cable routing
  • Only two 3.5-inch drive bays; not ideal for large HDD arrays
  • Side panel options: tempered glass or steel mesh (mesh model). Glass adds weight
