## Overview
The Logitech M196 is a wireless mouse that connects via Bluetooth, eliminating the need for a USB receiver. Its compact, ambidextrous design makes it a great travel companion for laptops and tablets. With a 1000 DPI optical sensor, it delivers smooth cursor control on most surfaces.
This mouse is positioned as an entry-level device for everyday office work and web browsing. It runs on a single AA battery for up to 12 months, reducing the hassle of frequent battery changes. The M196 is available in Graphite, Off-White, and Rose color options.

## Connectivity & Compatibility
The M196 uses Bluetooth for connectivity, so it works with Bluetooth-enabled Windows PCs, Macs, and Chromebooks. Since there's no USB dongle, you won't occupy a USB port on your laptop, and there's no risk of losing the receiver. The wireless range extends up to 33 feet (about 10 meters), giving you flexibility in how you position your device.
The mouse includes an on/off switch and auto-sleep mode to conserve battery life. Its symmetrical shape ensures comfortable use for both left- and right-handed users. The optical sensor works on a variety of surfaces, including wood, fabric, and even glossy finishes.

## Product Info
The Logitech M196 was released in 2024, making it a relatively recent addition to Logitech's lineup. Check the retailer's page for the latest price.
The mouse comes with a test battery and documentation. Logitech offers a standard one-year limited hardware warranty. You can purchase it from major retailers like Best Buy, and directly from Logitech's website.
In the market, the M196 sits at the entry tier, offering essential features without the complexity or cost of gaming or productivity-focused mice. It's a straightforward, reliable choice for users who need a basic wireless mouse without extra buttons or advanced customization.

## Best Use Cases
- Frequent travelers: The Bluetooth connection means no dongle to lose, and the compact size fits easily into a laptop bag. It's ideal for working in coffee shops, co-working spaces, or on the go.
- Left-handed users: The ambidextrous design allows left-handed individuals to use the mouse comfortably in their left hand, which is a rare feature in many mice.
- Budget-conscious buyers: If you need a dependable wireless mouse for everyday tasks like email, web browsing, and document editing, the M196 offers great value without breaking the bank.
- Not for gamers: The 1000 DPI sensor and lack of extra buttons make it unsuitable for gaming or applications requiring precise, high-speed tracking. For those needs, consider a dedicated gaming mouse.
