Powered by the α9 AI Processor Gen8, it delivers AI-based upscaling, personalized picture settings, and smooth 4K 144Hz refresh rates with a 0.1ms response time. NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium support ensure tear-free gaming, while the self-lit OLED pixels produce perfect blacks and vibrant colors for rich HDR content. Positioned at an aggressive price point for a 42-inch OLED, this TV is an excellent choice for users who want a single display for both console/PC gaming and movie watching. ## Compatibility Guide For use as a PC monitor, the OLED42C5PUA offers four HDMI 2.1 ports, enabling 4K 144Hz with 10-bit HDR and VRR when paired with compatible graphics cards (GeForce RTX 30-series or newer, Radeon RX 6000-series or newer). There is no DisplayPort, but HDMI 2.1 alone provides G-Sync Compatible and FreeSync Premium functionality. The built-in power supply eliminates the need for an external adapter; simply plug into a standard AC outlet. The TV also includes a digital tuner for terrestrial/BS/CS broadcasts. Physical placement requires a desktop at least 93.2 cm wide and 17 cm deep for the stand, so a deep desk is recommended. ## Product Info LG OLED42C5PUA is part of the mid-high-range C series for 2025. It sits below the brighter G series but offers the best balance of size, gaming features, and price for a 42-inch OLED. Available through major electronics retailers, online retailers, and LG's official online store. Power consumption is up to ~250 W max (~100 W typical). The TV runs webOS 25, supporting Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, and other streaming services natively. ## Best Use Cases * PC gamers who want a single display for both gaming and TV — HDMI 2.1 enables 4K 144Hz with VRR, perfect for AAA titles and console gaming. Not ideal for competitive esports players who demand 240 Hz or higher. * Home theater enthusiasts who occasionally connect a PC — Dolby Vision and Filmmaker Mode deliver cinematic experience; streaming apps are built-in. For heavy PC productivity (spreadsheets, coding), the large 42-inch size and lower pixel density may cause eye strain. ## Things to Consider This is a TV first, not a purpose-built PC monitor. Lacking DisplayPort and official PC display certifications (e. g. , TCO), it may not meet the needs of hardcore competitive gamers or professionals requiring ultra-high refresh rates. The 42-inch size on a typical 60 cm desk can feel overwhelming; a deep desk (80+ cm) is recommended. OLED burn-in remains a risk if static elements are displayed for extended periods (e. g. , taskbar, HUD). Alternatives like the ASUS ROG Swift PG42UQ or Dell Alienware AW3423DW offer similar OLED quality with more monitor-centric features, but at a higher price. Overall, the C5 is a great value if you prioritize versatility and picture quality over pure monitor performance. ## FAQ Q: Is text clarity acceptable when using this TV as a PC monitor? Users who need fine text detail should consider a smaller 4K monitor. Q: Does G-Sync Compatible work reliably over HDMI? A: Yes, the OLED42C5PUA is officially G-Sync Compatible certified by NVIDIA (as of 2025 drivers). VRR works smoothly over HDMI 2.1. If flickering occurs in certain games, try adjusting VRR and Overdrive settings in the Game Optimizer menu. Q: How is input lag for PC gaming? A: With Game Mode enabled over HDMI 2.1, input lag measures about 5–6 ms — negligible for most gaming. Combined with the 0.1 ms response time, gameplay feels responsive for casual to mid-level gamers. High-level competitive players may still prefer a dedicated 240+ Hz monitor. ### Product Disclosure (Amazon) - Manufacturer: LG - Seller: Nestos Shop Ltd - Fulfilled by: Nestos Shop Ltd - ASIN: B0DYQMWSKG - Note: This article covers a manufacturer-made product based on Amazon listing details.
